We collect only what we need to provide the service you asked for, we tell you who we share it with (employers, Registered Training Organisations, and authorised professionals where you have asked us to arrange assistance), we never sell it, and you can ask to see or correct it at any time by emailing info@skillsaxisaustralia.com.au.
Skills Axis Australia ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
The personal information we collect depends on your relationship with us. It may include:
- Contact and identity information — name, email address, phone number, organisation, postal address.
- Employment and career information — resume, work history, position descriptions, references, qualifications, licences and tickets, training records.
- Eligibility information — work rights and visa status, and where relevant to a service you have asked for, information required to assess eligibility for training, employment or migration pathways.
- Employer and business information — business structure, workforce requirements, role and remuneration details, recruitment history.
- Website information — information you submit through our forms, and technical information such as browser type and pages visited.
Some of this information may be sensitive information (for example, information relevant to health, criminal history checks or clearances required for a role). We collect sensitive information only where it is reasonably necessary for a service you have asked for, and with your consent unless we are otherwise permitted or required by law.
How we collect it
Usually directly from you — through our website forms, email, phone calls and meetings. We may also collect information from third parties where you would reasonably expect it, such as referees you have nominated, an employer engaging us in relation to you, a training provider, or a publicly available professional profile.
Why we collect it
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the services you have requested.
- To assess suitability, eligibility and options across training, workforce and migration services.
- To match candidates with employer requirements, and to present candidates to employers.
- To arrange training, assessment or Recognition of Prior Learning through Registered Training Organisations.
- To prepare, support and coordinate applications and documentation you have asked us to assist with.
- To meet our legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations.
- To improve our services, and to send you information you have asked to receive.
Who we may disclose it to
We may disclose personal information to:
- Employers or prospective employers, where you are a candidate and have consented to being presented for a role.
- Registered Training Organisations and assessors, where training, assessment or Recognition of Prior Learning is being arranged.
- Legal practitioners, registered migration agents and other authorised professionals, where a matter requires it and you have asked us to arrange or coordinate that assistance.
- Government departments, regulators and assessing authorities, where required for a service you have requested or where required by law.
- Service providers who support our operations, such as IT, email, hosting and form-handling providers.
We do not sell personal information. Some of our service providers may store information outside Australia. Where that occurs we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we hold and protect it
We hold personal information in electronic systems and, where relevant, in physical files. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including access controls and use of reputable service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We retain personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above or as required by law, and then take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.
